Memories of Biology Class with Mr. Max Kelley

  • I was never believed to be smart enough to be in this class! 🤣😂🤣 I was just wasn’t applying myself. I'm afraid that I do not remember many specifics from biology class. I wasn't a very good academic student and didn't think that I would use that stuff. BUT, when the time came later in life, Mendel's peas and Punnett squares popped straight into my head when I needed them. 😉 Application of phenotypes and genotypes are now a routine part of my poultry business.
  • "Fruit flies! Fruit flies everywhere!"
  • "My Freshman year, Mr. Kelley had kidney stones during the time when we would be dissecting the frog. We had many subs, but Mr. Kelley was definitely missed as we needed our teacher’s expertise. My sophomore year, I took Bio II and we dissected a fetal pig. I named mine Trixie. Lots of note-taking in those classes."

  • "Because of Mr. Kelly and my two years of HS bio with him, I wound up taking so many bio classes at IU that I majored in both history and bio."
